1. Survey Number and Subdivision Details

Every property in India is identified by a Survey Number or Gat Number (in Maharashtra) assigned by the local revenue department. If the land has been divided, the description will include subdivision numbers (e.g., Survey No. 125/2B).

Example:
Survey No. 125/2B, situated in Village Kelambakkam, Taluka Chengalpattu, District Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu.

2. Location and Administrative Jurisdiction

The legal description must clearly mention the village, taluka (block), district, and state, along with the revenue or planning authority under whose jurisdiction the land falls.

3. Extent and Boundaries

The property’s area is described in hectares, acres, or square meters, along with the cardinal boundary directions (North, South, East, and West), and adjacent plot references.

Example:
Total extent: 1.25 hectares (3.09 acres)
Boundaries:
