Hello LandMark

How much does it cost to bring in utilities?

1. Electricity Connection Costs

Bringing electricity to a property involves several components:

  • Service Line Charges: These vary based on the load requirement and whether the connection is overhead or underground. For instance, in some regions, charges can range from ₹2,995 for loads up to 5 kW to ₹8,065 for loads up to 100 kW.
  • Infrastructure Extension: If the property is far from existing power lines, additional costs for extending the infrastructure can apply. This may include the installation of poles or underground cables.
  • Security Deposits: Utilities often require a refundable security deposit, which can be equivalent to a few months of estimated consumption.

 2. Water and Sewer Connection Costs

Connecting to municipal water and sewer systems includes

  • Connection Fees: These are charges levied by the local water authority for tapping into the main supply and sewer lines.
  • Infrastructure Costs: If the property is not adjacent to existing lines, the cost of extending pipes to the property can be significant.
  • Alternative Solutions: In areas without municipal services, installing a well and septic system is common. Costs for drilling a well and installing a septic system can vary widely based on soil conditions and local regulations

3. Additional Utility Installation Costs

Other utilities to consider include:

  • Natural Gas: Installation costs depend on the distance from existing gas lines and can include fees for trenching and meter installation
  • Telecommunications: Connecting telephone and internet services may involve installation fees, especially if the property is in a remote area.

Permits and Inspections: Local authorities may require permits for utility installations, and inspections may be necessary to ensure compliance with regulations.
