Hello LandMark

What types of hazardous substances were previously stored?

Findings from Environmental Site Assessment (ESA)

The March 2023 ESA report indicated that no hazardous substances were historically stored on the site. Soil and groundwater samples taken from multiple locations showed no contamination from hydrocarbons, heavy metals, or solvents typically associated with industrial hazardous storage. The assessment concluded that the site presents no signs of previous chemical storage activity.

Land Use and Operational History

Based on a review of revenue records, local planning approvals, and stakeholder interviews, the site was primarily used as:

  • Agricultural land until 2019
  • Open storage yard for building materials between 2020–2021
  • No manufacturing, chemical processing, or bulk material handling involving hazardous substances was recorded
  • No registration or licensing under the Factories Act or Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016

There were no industrial units or operations requiring hazardous storage during previous land use phases.

Regulatory Authority Confirmation

A search with the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) and Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization (PESO) found:

  • No applications or approvals for the storage of hazardous substances
  • No Consent to Operate (CTO) or storage registration under chemical safety rules
  • No records of hazardous waste manifest or disposal logs from previous occupants

As per current and historic data, the site has no record of hazardous chemical storage and is considered clear of hazardous legacy risks.
